What I encountered was nothing less than a snow job on the person Veronica Guerin was and the works she had received awards for prior to her death. Everything except for a solitary voice in the darkness, praised Veronica Guerin as a saint.
It seems that the truth that every journalist is supposed to aim for got lost in translation, the moment Veronica Guerin, died. I don't know if it is for better or for worse, but this movie made me realize just how dangerous a journalist's job can be. It also made me realize that sometimes, just sometimes, when we are seeking the story of a life time to keep ourselves from losing our job, the greater good can also be served.
